Specialist eCommerce solution provider Vaimo has been awarded a Gasell (Gazelle) by leading Swedish business newspaper Dagens Industri for the remarkable growth it has achieved over the last four years. This marks the second year in a row that the company has received the illustrious award.
The Gasell awards acknowledge the critical role smaller companies play in today’s economy. Unlike the larger, entrenched elephants of industry, the gazelles achieve significant growth which in turn produces the largest number of new jobs and plays a distinct role in stimulating the economy. This year, 678 gazelles were shown to have created 13 774 jobs in Sweden over a three year period.
In order to qualify for a Gasell, companies are required to meet the following demanding criteria:
- Be a private or public limited company;
- Have a minimum revenue of 1 million SEK (approximately US$ 150,000);
- Published a minimum of 4 audited annual reports covering a full 12 months of trading;
- Achieved positive profit growth in each of the four years;
- And finally, revenue or gross profit must have doubled over the 4 year period.
Having achieved an extraordinary 869% growth over the past three years, Vaimo claimed a top 10 spot in the region of Stockholm.

Vaimo Chief Executive Officer, David Holender says: “We are very pleased with our achievement coming in 6th in Stockholm and making it into Sweden’s top 25 of fastest growing companies. We are very proud of our performance and congratulate our team on the amazing work we have achieved together.”
The awards were made at a glittering gala dinner hosted in Stockholm’s Concert Hall and attended by many business luminaries as well as Prince Carl Philip who himself presented an award.
The Prince said: “It is important to recognise the entrepreneurs we have in Sweden, and who have won awards here today. Being named one of the year’s Gazelles is something very special. It is proof that you have done well as an entrepreneur, and this deserves to be rewarded. And seeing what all the Gazelles have achieved is extremely impressive.”
Vaimo is already looking to next year’s awards despite the difficult economic environment, says Holender. “There is no doubt that the global and local markets have come under increased pressure. But this has just inspired the Vaimo team to be more creative. We hope to make an even higher appearance in next year’s awards.”
