How it started

Back in 2008, three guys in Sweden came together with a vision: to build more than a traditional workplace. They were tired of the average corporate environment, where Mondays were dreaded and employees felt disconnected from a sense of purpose.

David Holender, PJ Utsi and Staffan Palopää wanted to build something different, a place with a strong culture and real mission.

Since then, Vaimo has grown organically from a 3-person start-up in a co-working space to a global full-service digital experience agency with over 650 team members across 15 markets.

Vaimo means heart

As for the name, two of Vaimo’s co-founders, PJ and Staffan, have Sami heritage, and Sami culture deeply influences our company. Our brand identity and visual elements all come from northern Scandinavian geography, with mountains, lakes and landscapes from the Sami’s land.

The harsh Artic environment is also a metaphor for the digital world. It’s fast-changing and dangerous, without the right tools, knowledge, and expertise. That’s where we help clients succeed. And that’s why we chose our name. “Vaimo” means “heart” in Sami language, to reflect the goal of being at the very center of our client’s businesses. Where commerce, content and data intersect, we are there, strategically helping you grow.
